Rhymes & Vines '24 with Adam Hood

Rhymes & Vines '24 with Adam Hood

Larry Joe Taylor's Rhymes & Vines 2024 showcased many exemplary songwriters this past weekend to include icons like Michael Hearne & newcomers such as Meredith Crawford. Absolutely grooving his Friday set was respected artist paving the way for modern songwriting & hit making Adam Hood.

"This is a cool place," Hood told Pickin' Petals in regards to Melody Mountain Ranch. "This whole compound out here is really about as artist friendly as it gets, number one. Number two, the crowd was great. The night was great. There's so many [great things] I can't narrow it down to one. Sometimes you just gotta count your blessings."

In true Adam Hood fashion, every word he speaks drips in southern drawl with a little bit of that gospel. The showmanship on stage & soul in his singing sets him apart with a distinct sound & personality.

"We've been crankin' out tunes a lot," Hood said. "We'll probably put out one or two more singles before the year's out. We've been flying by the seat of our pants. I've had some extra stuff after the 'Bad Days Better' record that was left over, so that's kind of what we've been doing. Kind of bonusey things."

Hood has another still-under-wraps single coming out in the next couple(?) months that he was cryptic about, which makes it all the more exciting & buzz worthy. Amongst his own releases, he's had a solid slew of co-writes & song credits in 2024.

"I had a great year. First of the year, Blackberry Smoke's record came out & I had a song on that," Hood said. "Then [Cody] Jinks' record came out, & I had two on that one. I got some more things happening that I can't tell you about... but one involves a female artist that's doing really well from Alabama. That's it! That's all you get!"

After a little lighthearted poking & prodding, Hood did decide to tease us with this:

"Old black and" are the first three lyrics of the song that will be releasing with the mystery artist. It almost feels like a song hunt or lyric crossword puzzle. If any of you readership figure it out, please let us know in the comments!

If you aren't versed in the legendary Hood Credits page, don't worry-- I'm here to enlighten you! He has OVER 100 SONGS on his songwriting credits page that is actively growing yearly. See for yourself [HERE!]

"We're still pounding pavement," Hood said. "I had a great year touring wise, just did some stuff with Miranda [Lambert] a couple of weeks ago. We did some things with Blackberry Smoke, Red Clay Strays, & Drake White. We got into some new areas, so we're trying to grow those markets."

Hood also went on to sing a song he wrote for Stoney LaRue's 'Velvet' album called "Wiregrass" with "Stoney Bologna" (his words haha) during the closing set of Friday's Rhymes & Vines lineup.

When asked what made him the happiest that evening, Hood responded with the most wholesome, totally Hood response we could have expected:

"We got [to Melody Mountain] safe. We had a great show. My kids are good, & my wife is good. You learn to be thankful for things like that. I got nothin' to complain about."

& NEITHER DO WE! To catch a live show or do some gentle digging on his discography, you can check out Hood's website [HERE!] He's also across the board on social media, even fairly active on TikTok.

Thank you to Adam Hood for sitting down & doing an interview with us, & thank you to Larry Joe & Sherry Taylor and the Melody Mountain Ranch staff for yet another beautiful & transformative Rhymes & Vines festival.
